Daniel Libeskind established his architectural studio in Berlin, Germany in 1989, before winning the competition for the Jewish Museum, Berlin in 1990.
Upon winning the competition for the World Trade Center in February 2003, Studio Daniel Libeskind, New York, was established in May 2003. In the last fifteen years, the practice has been designing and realizing major museum projects, public and private cultural projects and large scale commercial projects around the world.
The office has won commissions for major cultural buildings and significant urban projects in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Canada, the United States, Japan, Spain, Israel, Mexico, Korea, Singapore and China. Daniel Libeskind’s architecture reflects his profound interest and involvement in philosophy, art, music, literature, theatre and film, and a continuing commitment to realizing hand-crafted singular buildings. Creator of some of the world’s most striking buildings, Daniel Libeskind has received numerous high-profile awards, including the 2001 Hiroshima Art Prize for a work promoting international peace. This was the first time that this accolade has been bestowed upon an architect.
